For those unable to attend the morning event, an Afternoon Reception (featuring FREE Mohawk Rum Punch and Hot Dogs!) will be held from 4-7pm. Both receptions will be held on the fan tail of the USS Mohawk WWII Memorial Ship, docked at Truman Annex Waterfront. Cost for either event is only $10 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit both the USS Mohawk Museum Ship and the Artificial Reefs of the Keys USS Vandenberg Project. A project of the Artificial Reefs of the Keys and local non-profit and ReefMakers, this historic arrival of the USS General Hoyt S Vandenberg marks the culmination of thousands of hours of volunteer hours and Herculean efforts by the City of Key West and Monroe County. After 10 long years, Bob Smith, Sheri Lohr, Chris Norwood, Commissioner Bill Verge and the countless others, who have donated their time, talent and resources to cut through mounds of red tape…are ecstatic that the ship is finally making its way to Key West. They, along with others from Artificial Reefs of the Keys and ReefMakers, the organization who will oversee and coordinate the sinking of the Vandenberg, will also be on hand to share the behind the scenes stories of how the ship will be sunk.
