Why does the Conch Republic need military forces?
It is, after all, a peaceful nation.

All those who are familiar with Conch Republic history know that the founding of the Republic and the subsequent attack on the USCGC Diligence was not an act of rebellion against the US.

Rather, it was an act of righteous indignation at the notion that being on the other side of the arbitrary and capricious Border Patrol road block somehow made us something other than Americans.

The Border Patrol roadblock was folly.
So how did we deal with that?
We fought folly with folly!

We showed that we could stand up and fight for our honor and freedom without harming anyone – and that our most powerful weapon is humor.

And now, these many years later, the Conch Republic Military still stands ready to defend our honor, freedom and spirit.

Our values are warmth, humor and respect, and so we are indeed –
“A FARCE to be reckoned with – fighting folly with folly – defending our nation from Key to shining Key.”
